Reporting to a Plant Controller, the Assistant Plant Controller is responsible for a variety of accounting and finance assignments, partnering with the site management team to successfully manage the manufacturing operations and meet financial objectives.  
This role supports two plant locations - South Gate, CA and Jackson, MS.  The successful candidates may be based out of either facility with the understanding there will be some travel required to the other facility. 
The South Gate facility is located 12 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles on a 27-acre property.  The facility is responsible for producing and shipping commercial and residential vinyl composition tile (VCT). 
The location offers easy access to all of southern California's enjoyment- entertainment opportunities such as beaches, mountains, shopping, sporting activities, amusement parks as well as home to countless radio, television and film businesses. 
The Jackson facility currently manufactures several commercial floor tile products and is located close to neighboring cities known for good schools, shopping, and dining options. 
The facility is a 3-hour drive away from the Mississippi coast as well as New Orleans, LA.  Jackson, the capital city of Mississippi, is known for its rich history and ties to the music world and numerous major industries. 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Closing month-end reports, including reporting and analyzing variances to budget and forecast for the regional controller and management team
  • Account analysis and reconciliation
  • Preparing plant reports on production and key performance indicators
  • Assisting with the development of monthly forecasts based on production drivers and key performance metrics at the facility
  • Supporting the weekly estimate process through analyzing metrics and developing projections of on-going performance
  • Inventory control and reconciliation, including reviewing or auditing the adherence to cycle count procedures and assisting with the annual physical inventory
  • Overseeing the cycle count process for our Resilient facility
  • Fixed asset control and reconciliation, including assistance with fixed asset physical inventory counts every three years
  • Preparing economic cost studies for projects concerning new or existing products, manufacturing processes, equipment or facilities
  • Assisting with the annual review and audit of internal control procedures in order to sustain SOX compliance and to minimize financial risk at the facility
  • Developing the annual plant budget, including creating standards as well as updating the standards and period expense budgets in SAP
  • Assisting with plant internal and external financial and operational audits and address any audit findings with the regional controller
  • Support the plant in generating and quantifying cost savings opportunities, and supporting the plant management team with the implementation of cost reduction initiatives
  • Responding quickly and accurately to customer requests
  • Initially, travel is expected to plant locations to learn job responsibilities from subject matter experts
  • Travel (<10%) is expected on an ongoing basis but may include travel for plant controller conference, training seminars, etc.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of accounting/finance experience in a manufacturing or public accounting environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CMA,CPA or other professional certification
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP system

  • Demonstrated ability to link and analyze plant operational metrics to financial performance
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Capable of working independently and managing multiple priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer focused with strong attention to detail
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
